My Love Story- Online Love Does Work
January 8, 2005 I was browsing
through Yahoo profiles and saw this cute guy. He looked like Drew Carey. I sent
him an instant message and an automatic message came up saying he was not home,
so to try the cell. Even though I never met the man, I sent him a text message.
I think it went something like this “My name is April and I think you are cute”.
He texted me back that he got out of work at 11pm. We ended up meeting at a
Denny’s at midnight. He ended up only living exactly 1 mile from me. Denny’s
was crowded so we went to Dunkin’ Doughnuts and sat a table and talked until
7am. Around 5am an older gentleman came up to us and told us we were going to
get married someday and he had my then date hold me hands for the first time. I
went home smitten and have been ever since.
We had a whirlwind romance, engaged
six weeks after meeting. Married 15 months later in a story book Cinderella
themed wedding.

How sweet is that! Dan and I met in a similar way. We were both in a Christian dating chat room (not something we did often) Both of us had gotten out of long term relationships the same week and met 3 weeks after we broke up with them.
ReplyDeleteWe knew we wanted to get married and became engaged just 1 month later (officially a bit later on) and two years to the date we met we got married.
Due to my having PCOS and knew we had a long ttc journey to having children, we started right away.
It took 25 months to get pregnant with our son Luke, My wonderful doctor put me on metformin and the same month I got pregnant. Sadly the OB practice we'd chosen was not very knowledgeable about PCOS. They didn't have me continue with Metformin telling me I didn't need it. my first trimester was uneventful, but once I reached my second I had slight pains and was also bleeding so I went in to my OB's office for an emergency visit. They found I had a tear in my placenta and said we'd be fine just to go on bedrest and everything would be ok.
More than two weeks later I woke up in the most horrible pain of my life. I started bleeding badly and I knew I needed to get to the hospital.
In our town the hospital's OB department has long since been shut down and I knew the pain was too great to make it out of town. I thought there was something the er could do I never expected to lose my son.
They transferred me to a hospital with a high risk ob unit. At 8:56 pm on October 22, 2009 I delivered our son Lukas Ethan born sleeping. We really hadn't discussed names for this baby. I was in shock. I didn't want to believe this actually happened. The nurse asked me what his name was and I drew a blank. By ultrasound we'd been told he'd be a girl. His name popped into my mind.
I had to stay in the hospital for four days. Two days after he was born I had a dnc. The day after I got out of the hospital we had to go to the funeral home to make funeral arrangements.
2010 was difficult. We knew a few people who were expecting and a friend was due a month after luke was due.
By December we had another scare. My husband had pnemonia and had gone to the urgent care clinic late the week before and was given antibiotics. He was ok for a while but three days in he was much worse. He said he'd go to the doctor in the morning but he was in so much pain and couldn't breathe when he laid down. I told him I wasn't waiting for the morning to take him to the doctor so I drove him to the hospital at a little after midnight.
They started IVs and drew blood and as soon as the nurses left his sats went down and he nearly died. The doctor told me if I'd waited for the morning to bring him in he would've died in his sleep.
He spent nearly a month in the hospital and left the hospital with a picc line. We had to drive back to the hospital every day so he could get IV meds. We did this for two months. Christmas day new years etc.
We found out we were pregnant with a baby soon after and lost her in the second tri as well. We had a different doc this time but beginning at 8 weeks I started having issues. I have issues with my kidneys and bladder and I know when I have a UTI. In each of these ER visits I told them I felt this is what was going on. My last visit there before the baby died they told me I had one. They gave me my first dose of antibiotics there in the hospital. When I took the second at home my temp shot up and I got sick very quickly. That night our baby girl went to heaven.
Here we are now and it's been 14 months since our last baby went to heaven. We're not giving up hope that one day we'll have kids
